Having done a degree in Biochemistry, I am currently nearing the end of my PhD in the same subject at St. Andrews university in Fife. I live in Edinburgh with my husband Pete and we recently joined the Leith congregation shortly after getting married in 2005. I have been a Christian my whole life, which sounds kind of strange but I remember even as a toddler knowing that Jesus was my saviour. I wasn't really brought up with strong beliefs but I have always been aware of God's presence and He has moulded and shaped me into the person I am today. I can confidently say that in being a follower of Jesus, I have lived my life the best possible way I could imagine. Yes, there have been bad times and hard times! God promises many trials for those who belong to Him. These trials refine us in our faith and looking back I would not change anything. But there have also been wonderful times of great blessing, which I am aware of every day and I thank God that He is so good...His love endures forever!

"My first impression of the church was 'what genuine friendly people'."

I really enjoy being part of the Leith congregation. My first impression of the church was 'what genuine friendly people'. I count them all as my family. Contrary to common misconception, the congregation is dynamic and fun to be part of. Everyone is enthusiastic about trying and following through with new ideas e.g. the Friday light lunch. It is great helping out at the lunch, I have met so many interesting people and it is fantastic to see the church and the community more united.
