As I grew up in a Christian home I always thought I was a Christian but I was actually waiting for some dramatic thing to happen to me, like some people had said happened to them when they became Christians.

One Communion, as the elements were being taken, I felt strongly that I should be at the Lord's Table and I felt quite emotional. I was still waiting for some big thing to happen when one night at a youth club that goes on at church, a leader gave her testimony of how she became a Christian. She told everyone how she had grown up in a Christian family and had waited for years for something to happen to make her a Christian. I listened closely as she told me how she prayed to God, to help her feel something to know that she was a Christian. God answered her prayer. That night I prayed that same prayer, and I prayed it every night for a few weeks when at church one night I understood exactly what the minister was saying. I had a sense of understanding and peace that I'd never had before. My prayer had been answered.

I decided that I would become a member at the next communion. Between that time and the communions I went to a Christianity explored course which I enjoyed so much. My faith was challenged but also strengthened.

As I sat at the Lord's Table for the first time I felt nervous but as soon as I had taken the elements I felt overwhelmed. I felt satisfied and happy. Everyone in the congregation was so nice to me.

I would like to say that since then life has been easy and great, but as any Christian will tell you life doesn't get easy, but usually harder. Although there are trials, difficulties and challenges every day, my life is now filled with extra blessings. I have met so many amazing people who are Christians and who also understand the ups and downs of the Christian life. I have to ask God to deal with my sins every single day, but He answers that prayer and many more that I make.

The best thing that I have gained is a best friend for life in Jesus.
