Light Lunch
In October 2006, in conjunction with a visit to the church by friends from St Andrews PCA, Memphis, Tennessee, we commenced a one-off outreach venture which we called the 'Free light lunch at Leith Free church'. The lunch consisted of soup and sandwiches plus a cup of tea/coffee and a pastry for everyone who came in. This took place over a period of three days in October and was a great success.
Since December 2006 we have been providing a similar free light lunch in the church every Friday between 12 and 2pm. The lunch attracts around 40 people each week, many of whom are now regulars.
As well as affording us as a church the opportunity to express the love of Jesus Christ in a practical way to the people of Leith, it also enables us to get to know many of the people who come in through the doors every week, to listen, and when appropriate to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with them too. As a result of the lunch we in Leith Free Church feel that we have got to know the people in the area in a much more meaningful way, and we hope and pray that this will continue to be the case.
We need at least 10 helpers each week to fulfil different roles and so far we've managed to secure that number almost every week.
If you need a lunch and are in the Leith area on Friday between 12 and 2pm then please feel free to come along.
We think you'll enjoy the lunch and the experience of meeting some of the folk in the church.
