Crèche

Crèche

We provide crèche facilities for pre-school age children during the morning service, which affords mothers/fathers the opportunity of being able to stay in the church service and listen to the sermon with the assurance that their children are being well looked after.

Sunday School

The Sunday School in Leith caters for children of Primary School age. During the classes they are taught the truths of the bible in a homely and relaxed atmosphere.

As well as meeting every Sunday morning during term time, the Sunday school also has an annual party at Christmas time which entails an adventure activity and a time of eating and singing and playing in the hall, concluding with the giving out of presents for all the children.

Note that for both the crèche and Sunday School, the children remain in the main service until the singing of the second psalm, at which point they should make their way out the door at the front right-hand side of the church with the crèche helpers and Sunday School teachers.

Leith Free Church are compliant with all relevant child protection standards and view the safety and well being of the children in their care as of the utmost importance.

Junior Youth Fellowship

Y.F. Every week during term time, the young people (S3 to S6) join with their friends from the other Free Churches in Edinburgh to meet together in different homes.

At present there are four homes in which the young people meet from about 8.15pm to 10pm on a Sunday evening, and during the time they're together, the young people chat, discuss issues, eat, reflect, laugh, ask questions and many other things that young people like to do.

We feel it's a good way to end the Lord's Day and we hope to develop this fellowship in consultation and conjunction with the young people involved. Junior YF has now finished for the Summer but will recommence in August when the school session begins.

The Klub

The Klub is for all young people in S1-S3 from the 3 Free Churches in Edinburgh, and for their friends as well, and meets every second Friday evening in the hall of Buccleuch and Greyfriars Free Church or in another venue as intimated.

A programme of events is planned at the beginning of each session and comprises of fun activities under the supervision and guidance of a dedicated team of adults. The programme of events for last session (January-June 2007) has finished and details of the next session (September-December 2007) will be posted here as soon as this becomes known.

Please visit this page nearer the start of the new session for more details.

Magazines

The Free Church produces 2 monthly magazines aimed particularly at young people. For the primary age children, The Instructor is edited by Irene Howat and is a colourful and glossy magazine which is attractive and interesting.

For the older children, the magazine Free is also produced monthly, edited by Chris Nicolson, and contains lots of thought provoking and interesting articles and much more to help young Christians live out their lives in a way that is relevant and honouring to Christ.
